Joel: Let's dive into the world of the multi-talented Mark.J.Stevens, a singer, songwriter, musician, producer, artist, actor, and author. Mark, thank you for joining us today.
Mark.J.Stevens: My pleasure! It's great to be here.
Joel: You have a diverse set of talents, and it's intriguing to learn how you got started in music. Can you tell us about your journey?
Mark.J.Stevens: Well, music has always been a part of my life. I started singing at a young age, but I never really thought of pursuing it seriously. It was only when I discovered my ability to mimic the voices I heard on the radio that I began to consider a career in music.
Joel: That's fascinating. It's often those unique talents that set artists apart. What can your fans look forward to in the near future?
Mark.J.Stevens: I'm currently working on an exciting new music project, and you can expect brand new music to be released in early 2024. I also have a UK and European tour in the works. On top of that, I have three new books on the horizon, including a book of poetry and two novels, which will be released between late 2023 and 2024. I'll be involved in some more film and TV projects throughout 2023, and I'm particularly excited about my new podcast series, 'REAL TALK' With Mark J.Stevens, now available on Spotify and YouTube. It features some very special guest stars every other month, so be sure to check it out.
Joel: It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Tell us about the challenges and opportunities you've encountered as a male solo artist in the UK music industry.
Mark.J.Stevens: Being a male solo artist in the music industry these days can be quite challenging. If we look at the landscape, there are very few male singer-songwriters who have made their mark, with the exception of artists like Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran. The industry often focuses on female soloists, and it's rare to find record companies actively seeking male solo artists. It's a tough road to navigate.
Joel: Despite those challenges, you seem to be breaking the mold. What sets you apart in the industry?
Mark.J.Stevens: I believe my music is innovative, creative, and unique. I aim to push boundaries and write melodies that are not just catchy but infectious. My lyrics are passionate and thoughtful, and I always strive to deliver a captivating and earth-shattering performance. I'm determined to leave my mark in the industry, and I hope my music resonates with audiences and helps pave the way for more male solo artists.
